Ilish macher matha diye Kochur Lati...(Taro Stolons with Hilsa Fish Head)....:)

 Kachur loti is a traditonal recipe mostly popular inBangladesh now became equally popular in West Bengal.It is absolutely delicious and simple recipe to prepare with verity of way. Kachur Loti is known as Taro Stolon in English. It is avaible freh or frozen.  Frozen Kochur Loti is available in the US in different Asian / Bangladeshi Store.

After my marriage we go to one of our friend's house In
London,that time I eat first time this nice dish 'Kochur 
Lati'.And I just Loved this dish.Its easy to prepare and yummy to eat. So today I share my own style Ilish macher matha diye Kochur Lati...(Taro Stolons with Hilsa Fish Head)....:)...Hope U also love this recipe.



Ingredients:
  • Kochur Loti - 200 g, about 1and 1/2 inch long pieces ( Available in the US in Indo/Pak/Bangladeshi/Asian stores)
  •  Hilsh fish head.(Small or 1/2 of a big one)
  • 1 small Onion, (chopped finely ).
  • One small bringle/Eggplant & one small potato.(peeled and cubed)
  • 1/4 tsp Kalonji/Black Zeera
  • 3-4 Green Chilies, slit
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powde.
  • 1 tsp Mustard seed.
  • Salt & suger to Taste
  • 3/4 tbsp Oil  mustard oil is preferred
  • Water - 2 cups
Method:-
  1. Rub salt and turmeric to the fish head and keep aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Grind the  Mustard seed and keep aside.
  3. Bring water to boil. Add kochur loti, 1/2 tsp salt,and a pinch of turmeric. Cover and boil for 10-12 minutes. Drain water thoroughly.
  4. Heat the oil and fry the fish head on medium till golden on all sides. Drain and keep aside.
  5. In the same oil add the Kalonji/Black Zeera . Once they start to splutter add the onion little bit turmeric,sugar,and salt.(Remember your's Kochur lati also boiled with salt ,sugar & turmeric).  Fry on low till you see oil start oozing out.  Also add all the vegetables and mix everything together & Cover.
  6. Let it cook on medium flame for 8-10 minutes. During this time the vegetables will release lot of water and will get cooked in its own juice. Mix with Hilsa fish head and after 2-3 mins. Add the boiled Kochur lati & mustard seed pest.Cover to cook on medium-low heat for 5-7 minutes.
  7. When the water dries out check if the veggies are cooked or add little water and keep on cooking till the veggies are soft.
  8. Now ready your's Ilish macher matha diye Kochur Lati...(Taro Stolons with Hilsa Fish Head)..Before serve put 1/2 tsp mustard oil in this. Plain hot rice is very good combination for this recipe.
